Unseen Pieces

January 2023 – I started working at this coffee shop as a barista (duh). I really enjoy it! I never knew rice milk was a thing, did anyone else know that? We use rice milk when making our horchata latte. Which also has cinnamon powder and vanilla syrup. I’m also enrolled in a Technical Communication master’s program online. I’m excited af for that. However, it’s stressful so I decided to spoil myself at Target with a bunch of skin care products.

Update: It’s now 2024. Let me give you a rundown of my year in 2023. I worked at the coffee shop for six months. I wrote about it in purple because, at the time, I was in the habit of typing everything in purple. Why? I had just graduated college, and in college, I would type my papers in purple for entertainment purposes. Then, I would switch it to black ink before submitting them. Anyway… (ADHD brain) I worked at a coffee shop after graduating, and I felt ashamed working at a coffee shop at 23 years old with already two degrees, even though there shouldn’t be shame behind that. I have always dealt with anxiety, right? So, I started taking Ashwaghanda supplements for a couple of weeks. Little did I know that would put me in a depressive phase. Maybe the exact serving size wasn’t compatible with my brain chemistry, or maybe the fact that I was unhappy with life made it easier for those supplements to trigger depression. Disclaimer, I could be wrong; this is all speculation. So, I leaned on the show Ginny & Georgia for comfort. To this day, my favorite non-reality TV show by far. In April, I got big into skin care after my breakup with my former boyfriend. I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, despite how sad I was. That’s where my skin care journey began, which I’ll talk about more in future blogs. I have had an obsession with psychology for such a long time. Skin care and psychology (specifically intense mental disorders I research) will be an ongoing theme here. I love writing, which is why I’m now working on my master’s degree in technical communication (in other words, technical writing) and researching psychology to apply it to my essays since we get to choose our writing topics. You’ll learn a lot about me when I give insight on a lot of the pieces I’ve written. Anyway, that’s all for now. 2023 was an interesting one. I still haven’t given a rundown on the second half of it but maybe in the next blog. Bye :”)
